In order to keep both you and our employees safe while working in and on your homes we are taking any and all necessary preventative actions during the COVID-19 outbreak.
On a daily basis, our employees will be washing their hands upon arrival to our shop where we load up materials and plan for our day. We will also wash our hands once more before leaving the shop to head to your home. Upon arrival to your home, our technicians will put on a new pair of nitrile gloves and face mask to reduce risk of person to person germ spreading. We will knock on your front door, step back several feet, and enter your home with your permission. Our technicians will then put on a fresh pair of shoe covers and practice social distancing between you and anyone in your home. We will use fresh sheets of plastic in each home and will no longer be re-using drop cloths or tarps from different homes. Upon leaving your home, we will be sure to clean any surfaces and areas disturbed by our workers thoroughly and we will politely say thank you but we will not shake hands, hug, etc. For our larger ongoing projects inside your home, we can block off work areas from other areas in your home and some customers may choose to leave us a key or lockbox code if they opt. to have us work in the home without being there.
Also, any employee who shows symptoms or who has been in close contact with people showing symptoms will be removed from work and follow self quarantine procedures in accordance with CDC guidelines before being allowed to return to work. All personnel have been asked to avoid large gatherings when off hours and take proper precautions to minimize risk of spreading the virus. All personnel have been advised to avoid air travel and report any air travel before returning to work. Bethesda Chimney has also suspended all employee travel outside of basic operations and cancelled all non essential trips, including cancelling our participation in the 2020 National Chimney Sweep Guild Convention in Orlando in April.
Finally, at Bethesda Chimney we will continue to run our services and fulfill the appointments we have scheduled with you and your families for as long as we are able to do so safely and responsibly, with these new precautionary methods in place. Being longtime chimney sweeps, we understand the importance of indoor air quality and keeping your family safe from breathing in particulate matter and other byproducts of combustion which can be built up and settling inside your chimney. Now is just an important time as ever to maintain healthy breathing and high indoor air quality and we want you to understand that we will still remain open while practicing safe work environments for both our customers and our employees.
We thank you again for being Bethesda Chimney customers and for working with us during this complicated time for everyone.
